Fighting Heart Disease and Cancer

Do It Like It Means Something is a non-profit corporation registered in the State
of Texas and recognized as a 501(c)(3) by IRS.

Do It Like It Means Something was founded with the goal of inspiring and motivating folks to start or maintain an active lifestyle. Research and historical data have proven that activity is paramount to staying healthy. We want to provide opportunity and inspiration for youth and adults alike to do just that.

Having people in our lives who have experienced heart issues or death with the consequences of cancer, we want to improve heart health, and reduce the incidence of heart disease and cancers.

This Is Who We Are

Being a fairly new and small non-profit, we are focused more toward what we can achieve locally. We do not intend to "compete" with the national-level charities - honestly, just the opposite; we want to find ways to leverage their resources.

While we recognize the importance of the major charities such as the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society, we feel that there are a number of smaller, less-recognized entities who do great work supporting patients, research or education related to heart health or cancer improvement goals. Our challenge is to support these endeavors that do not consume donations in high overhead costs, so that a much higher percentage of gifts goes toward supporting patient support, research, and hopefully, cures in the near future.

Latest Updates

(January 10, 2017) - Time To Ride Again?
After some discussion with friends, we believe there is interest in our organization sponsoring/hosting another bicycle event team in the near future. We are currently looking at various events, and expect to have a decision soon as to when and where we will go next. Likely timeframe is either late 2017 or sometime in 2018. Stay tuned...

(June 12, 2015) - What a great weekend! Tahoe, you are OURS!
We probably had the best weather ever for the America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride. We expected some wind, heat and possibly some rain, but we had none of that. A common though amongst the team was that it was Tom watching over us. But even more than a successful weekend of riding is the fact that we will have raised over $25,000 to support the fight against cancer! Not bad for a small team of riders...but that really shouldn't come as a surprise to anybody, though, since we were riding with purpose this season, to honor Tom.

(May 14, 2015) - This weekend is our last long ride before Tahoe (AMBBR).
We are participating in the Real Ale Ride, which starts and finishes in Blanco. 80 mile of rolling hills, probably some wind, heat and humidity, and possibly some rain, based on the weather forecasts. But we ARE riding with purpose this season, to honor Tom... so we will persevere!

(March, 2015) - This hurts...we lost one of our own.
We lost a hero among us. Our friend Tom was critically injured in a bicycle-vehicle accident, and we now have a bright Angel looking down upon us. We will miss him immensely, and have committed to riding in his name for the Tahoe ride.
